Directs and supervises kitchen service activities and the delivery of food to the patient floors in consultation with the Food Services Director. Implements established procedures and methods for kitchen service unit and coordinates with other food service units as necessary.
Consults with the Director and Dietician regarding food service and therapeutic diets.
Coordinates daily operation of the food service kitchen using initiative and judgment in assigning jobs and ensuring that job expectations are met. Coordinates all functions of kitchen requirements to include loading, delivery, pick-up, and cleaning of food. Plans, coordinates, and delivers to special functions according to requests. Trains, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates patient service employees. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Directs maintenance of departmental facilities, equipment, supplies, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, of patients and staff in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and departmental safety standards.
Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required Education:
High school diploma or GED, preferred. Advanced training in the area of food service preferred. Serv-Safe preferred. Experience:
Two years food service experience in a hospital setting preferred. Six months supervisory experience preferred. Additional Skills/Abilities:
Ability to direct and lead employees. Knowledge of all areas of food service department. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to solve problems independently. Must be knowledgeable of and able to follow the standards of federal, state and regulatory agencies and JCAHO for sanitation, food preparation and handling. Must have knowledge of cooking methods and procedures, safe food handling techniques and all kitchen equipment.
