Mobile Communications America is seeking an experienced Tower Technician for the Birmingham, AL location. The candidate must have a have a solid understanding of the wireless industry. This position requires the technician to spend 90% of their time onsite climbing towers. Technicians must back up the lead tower tech when working top side and back up the tower foreman when on the ground. The candidate must understand color coding, weatherproofing, grounding as it pertains to the SOW.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
•Follow all state and federal safety regulations including OSHA, Tower Owners and local turfing vendor while working in an efficient and productive manner.
•Required to work at heights installing telecom equipment and materials on towers, monopoles including mounts, radios, antennas and microwave dishes.
•Interprets various documents such as blueprints, diagrams and manufacturer specifications to ensure proper installation of antenna systems using technical expertise.
•Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
•Accurately complete detailed forms and reports.
Ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:
•Advanced understanding of Rigging.
•Microwave installation and aligning.
•System testing -PIM, ANRITSU and Fiber Testing.
•Coax, Fiber routing and handling.
•Top side and bottom side grounding.
•Able to take direction.
Successful Completion of Required Training:
•Tower climbing and Rescue.
•First Aid, BBP and CPR.
•PPE use and requirements.
•Lock out Tag out.
•GHS (formally MSDS)
•Special equipment such as aerial lift, forklift, Backhoe and capstan.
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to physically be able to climb 1000 vertical feet per day. The employee must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear, utilize personal protective equipment, lift (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular).

Must be able to travel 1-2 weeks but limited per project assignment. The employee must have reliable transportation to work and a valid driver’s license. Employment is dependent on completion of a background check, DOT physical and drug screen.
