Quantum Technologies, Inc. specializes in providing professional audio-video systems for a wide variety of customers, including federal courtrooms, corporate boardrooms, government contractors, conference centers, and houses of worship. In the 22 years since its founding, QTI has conducted thousands of installations across the country.
The back-end engineer will be part of a new project team responsible for developing new concepts from scratch, after which these concepts will evolve and adapt to changing customer needs and advancing technology.
The back-end engineer will work with in-house hardware engineers to develop communication protocols and standards for remote access, monitoring, and control of installed equipment. The goal will be to view data and monitor audio, video, and control equipment distributed across multiple remote sites using primarily TCP/IP and UDP communication from said sites. To achieve this, the engineer will establish a scheme for providing unique, secure endpoints per-customer that can be configured to display information about customers' systems using dynamic dashboard visualizations provided by the front-end engineer. The feed from these individual sites will be used to provide status of on-site equipment and report any issues. This will require communicating directly with audio-video equipment, establishing bidirectional control; additional communication with Crestron and/or AMX control systems will be required. All data will be database-driven.
Location: Huntsville, AL, USA. Some travel may be required.
5+ years' minimum experience.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, web design, or related field. Additional years' experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Experience with AWS solutions and with C, C++, and/or C#, and database programming.
Experience deploying highly scalable software packages.
Good communication skills and experience working within a team.
Strong organizational skills and ability to work efficiently both under tight deadlines and long-term goals.
Experience with TCP/IP and Ethernet communications.
Familiarity with encryption protocols.
Familiarity with audio-video technology.
Experience with version-control tools.
Ability to context-switch between aspects within a project and between projects.
Familiarity with AV control systems such as Crestron and AMX.
